The Village Market Hotel, Kenya

Tribe - The Village Market Hotel is located in upmarket Gigiri suburb towards the North of Nairobi and set apart - both in quality and geography - from other luxury hotels in the Centre. The motto of the African Pride Hotels brand is “one tribe, the human race” - and Tribe is a celebration of the beauty in diversity whilst embracing a common quest for excellence and belonging.

An exciting Boutique Hotel

The Village Market Hotel is first characterized by its modern architecture and its hundreds of African Art pieces, each floor having a different African theme.  The hotel unpretentiously blends contemporary ‘manhattan loft’ style with an authentic African vibe. Architect Mehraz Ehsani, whose boutique expertise is all based on "surprise", refers to Persian architecture mixed with an understanding of African light and space. The result is a low-rising structure that integrates atypical angles, complemented by handmade wooden furniture and local fabrics.

This luxury boutique hotel offers a range of accommodation from standard, junior, deluxe and superior rooms, to business suites, single or double apartments, presidential suites and penthouse rooms. Each is uniquely decorated, but all share sandstone brick walls, dark wood flooring, and handpicked African artwork, sculptures and furnishings.

Room facilities include a large LCD TV, telephones, high-speed Wifi, desks with a large safe. There are additional touches such as mood lighting, floor to ceiling mirrors and open plan bathrooms with walk-in pressure showers.

The hotel atmosphere is refined, and this also extends to the evening entertainments.

Dining experience

The Village Market is currently the place to go for a cocktail in Nairobi, with its rooftop  bar: the Nest Sheesa Lounge & Bar. The onsite restaurant offers a more peaceful dining experience. Described as ‘African fusion’ the food at Epic restaurant is exquisite - the menu features a wealth of healthy options with quality, organic ingredients. Its Chef, Neil McCarthy, a veteran of London's Mayfair InterContinental, however assures that meals can be customized to the guests tastes.

The perfect spot for business and leisure travellers in Nairobi

The hotel makes an ideal base for business travellers. There are two large conference rooms (20+ attendees) and two smaller meeting rooms all with Wifi access, whiteboards, flipcharts, and AV equipment (LCD displays). The Wetlands Business District is just 7km away and the hotel is also within reach of various embassies.

Visitors pushed for time or not wishing to venture far from the hotel will find plenty of attractions nearby, like the the Muthaiga Golf Club at a five minute drive away
