That Lufthansa has been on the look out for joining hands to set up partnerships with airlines already operating within the African market is too well known, though there has been no official confirmation.

Lately, Joachim Steinbach, Vice President-Africa for Lufthansa, mentioned that quite a few new companies of the kind of Asky Airlines-Togo targeted the regional markets in the interiors of Africa as there is strong need for mobility in such areas. He acknowledged that his company noted such developments with interest and would consider cooperation with such new companies.

Asky is jointly held by Ethiopian Airlines and institutional investors.
